Bangladesh has seen a sharp rise in dengue cases this June, with more than 10,000 infections and 42 deaths reported so far in 2025.
Bangladesh recorded 5,951 new dengue cases in June, following 1,773 infections reported in May, according to data released Monday by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health.
This brings the total number of dengue cases in the country to 10,296 so far in 2025.
In the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 a.m. on Monday, 429 new cases were reported, including 87 from the capital, Dhaka.
The DGHS also confirmed 19 dengue-related deaths in June. This follows three deaths in May, seven in April, three in February, and 10 in January—raising the total dengue death toll this year.
From January 1 to June 30, a total of 9,087 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals across the country.
Dengue fever remains a seasonal threat in Bangladesh, particularly during the monsoon period from June to September, when mosquito-borne diseases tend to surge.
